As fall begins to set in and the leaves burst into vibrant colors, people are starting to prepare for the upcoming “spooky season,” also known as October. To get people in the spirit, Enterprise South is hosting a “Haunted Trail Fest” that offers something for everyone in the family, including trick-or-treating, local vendors, a haunted trail, and a glow trail.
WaterWays, joined by Volkswagen employees who traded a shift at the factory in place of helping, set up the two trails that will be transformed into a whole other world. The day started off at the haunted trail, which was followed by the sounds of clanking and hammering as everyone worked to cover wooden pallets with black tarps, constructing what would become the labyrinth of the haunted trail.
The haunted trail is meant for an older, braver audience, complete with ghoulish actors and eerie sounds that will leave you double-checking your locks and pulling out that old nightlight. A game of Marco Polo was even initiated by workers due to all the twists and turns, and that was during the daytime, so one can only imagine the transformation when nightfall arrives (insert scary laughter here).
For those who are looking for a not-so-spooky experience, the Glow Trail offers a family-friendly but still festive alternative. Volunteers covered the path in colorful spiderwebs, which will later be lit with thousands of lights. It gives kids the chance to explore the park’s trails without any of the scares.
We would like to give a huge shoutout to all the VW workers who showed up today and helped out. If you are interested in volunteering at the Haunted Trail Fest, sign up here. Otherwise, we hope to see you on the trails on either October 10th or 11th for a spooktacular time!
