The second Neighborhood Environmental College meeting took place at the South Chattanooga Community Center, featuring four speakers on the topic of water quality and outdoor recreation! We heard from Tennessee River Gorge Trust, Outdoor Chattanooga, H2O Life and a nature journaler/member of the WildOnes native plant group about their connection to outdoor recreation in Chattanooga and how it is impacted by water quality. Attendees appreciated how the talks focused on accessible ways to start recreating outdoors. Because of Chattanooga’s diverse options for getting outside, it can often be overwhelming to know where to begin! Our speakers were super knowledgeable about nearly any resources you would need in town, and also shared personal stories about their relationship to getting outside! The session concluded with a raffle, where three attendees won a water bottle, and a native plant garden consultation.
