Summer Monitoring: September 9th

Summer Monitoring: September 9th

It’s 💧WaterWays WEEK FOURTEEN which is our LAST week of our summer water quality testing initiative! This summer we have monitored the health of popular local creeks and swimming holes and we appreciate the support and engagement from the community. The “Summer Swim Report” has provided weekly water monitoring for the following areas:

Greenway Farm
Big Soddy Creek Gulf
Audubon Acres
Rainbow Lake
Middle Creek
Suck Creek

WaterWays’ staff and volunteers collected and tested water samples weekly through Labor Day to check Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria levels to help the community make informed
decisions for safe swimming for families and pets.

THIS WEEK: This week the water was too low for our staff to effectively report on Suck Creek! Big Soddy and Greenway were in the Normal Range while Middle Creek and Audubon were in the Elevated Range. Rainbow Lake finished the season in the High Range! Always take precautions when swimming in freshwater. Swim at your own risk!
